Happy Easter: He Is Risen and Why It Still Matters Today

Happy Easter — He is risen. These three simple words carry a message powerful enough to change hearts, restore hope, and redefine life itself. Yet for many, Easter Sunday has become more about pastel colors, family meals, and spring traditions than the life-altering truth behind the celebration.

So, what does Easter really mean? And why does it still matter today?

Easter Celebrations vs. Easter Truth

There is nothing wrong with enjoying Easter traditions. Families gather. Children hunt for eggs. And, churches are filled. However, when the celebration ends there, something vital is missed.

Easter is not just a holiday. It is a declaration. It proclaims that Jesus Christ conquered sin and death—and that changes everything.

The resurrection is not symbolic or sentimental. It defines an historical, spiritual, and deeply personal relationship.

The Cross Came First

The cross came before the empty tomb.

Jesus willingly laid down His life, bearing the weight of sin for all humanity. His death was not an accident or a tragic ending—it became part of God’s redemptive plan.

Jesus Dies on the Cross.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

The cross reveals the depth of God’s love. Yet Easter reminds us that the story did not end in death.

He Is Risen: The Heart of Easter Sunday

Early on the first day of the week, everything changed.

He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.
Matthew 28:6

The resurrection confirmed who Jesus truly is—the Son of God. It validated every promise He made and every word He spoke.

Because Jesus rose from the dead, faith is not wishful thinking. It becomes grounded in truth.

Why the Resurrection Still Matters Today

The resurrection offers more than a reason to celebrate. It offers hope for daily living.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 1:3

Because He lives,

  • forgiveness is possible,
  • new life is available,
  • and death does not have the final word.

From Palm Sunday to Resurrection Morning

Easter is part of a greater story—one that includes Jesus’ willing journey toward the cross.

As Jesus entered Jerusalem, He demonstrated a love that would soon be proven through sacrifice. You can reflect on that powerful moment here:
Greater Love Hath No Man.

Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

The empty tomb stands as God’s answer to the cross—victory, redemption, and life everlasting.

More Than a Holiday

Easter invites us to move beyond tradition and into transformation. It calls us to remember that the resurrection is not only something to celebrate once a year, but a truth to live by every day.
