Listen to the Reverend Billy Graham’s 1952 Thanksgiving Message on Video
A quick question: What are you thankful for this year?
Thanksgiving Day is approaching again. As we plan our family gatherings, visions of loved ones, turkey and dressing (stuffing) & cranberry sauce enters our minds.
But, be mindful of Who we owe thanks.
In this timeless 1952 video by the great Reverend Billy Graham, we learn that America is still the most free nation on earth.
About Billy Graham
I did a bit of research and was astounded by Billy Graham’s long and successful ministry to America — and to the world. Here’s what wiki had to say:
“William Franklin Graham Jr. (November 7, 1918 – February 21, 2018) was an American evangelist, a prominent evangelical Christian figure, and an ordained Southern Baptist minister who became well known internationally in the late 1940s.
In fact, one of his biographers has placed him “among the most influential Christian leaders” of the 20th century.
As a preacher, Rev. Graham held large indoor and outdoor rallies. His sermons were broadcast on radio and television.
Amazingly, some re-broadcast into the 21st century.
The Graham Evangelistic Campaigns
In his six decades on television, Graham hosted annual “Crusades”, evangelistic campaigns, running from 1947 until his retirement in 2005.
He also hosted the radio show Hour of Decision from 1950 to 1954.
Billy Graham’s Radical Racial Views
Even during the times of inequality, Rev. Graham repudiated racial segregation. And, he insisted on racial integration for his revivals and crusades, starting in 1953. He also invited Martin Luther King Jr. to preach jointly at a revival in New York City in 1957.
In addition to his religious aims, he helped shape the world view of a huge number of people who came from different backgrounds, leading them to find a relationship between the Bible and contemporary secular viewpoints.
According to his website, Graham preached to live audiences of 210 million people in more than 185 countries and territories through various meetings — including BMS World Mission and Global Mission.”
The Video Thanksgiving Message
The message is short and to the point. But, Rev. Graham’s words are so powerful!
Take a moment to watch and remember what Thanksgiving is all about.
I hope you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving on Thursday.
P.S. If you have never made the commitment to receive the love and life-changing experience of Jesus Christ, please take a moment to Read John 3:16 to learn how.
And remember, whatever hardships you’ve experienced this year, there’s always a reason to be thankful.
Billy Graham explained it so well in this 1952 Hour of Decision program.
