Come to Christ Like Little Children
Sometimes in life, we find ourselves in chaos, feeling overwhelmed or unsure of what to do next. And, many people naturally turn to God during these times. So, just like the children mentioned in the Bible, we are invited to approach Christ with humility, trust, and a sense of wonder.
Our Christian meme about coming to God like children illustrates this beautifully. It reminds us that God welcomes us even when our lives feel messy, and He calls us to trust Him fully, like little children do.
What Does Matthew 19:13-15 Say to Us?
In Matthew 19:13-15 (NASB), we read:
“Then children were brought to Him that He might lay His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’ After He laid His hands on them, He went on from there.”
This passage reminds us that approaching God with childlike faith is not only encouraged but necessary. Jesus valued the innocence, trust, and openness that children bring to their relationship with Him. We can take inspiration from this to let go of pride or worry and simply come to Him with open hearts.
Lessons from Childlike Faith
When we come to Christ like children, we experience several spiritual benefits:
- Humility: We acknowledge our dependence on God. (James 4:6)
- Trust: We believe in His promises without overthinking. (Proverbs 3:5)
- Openness: We are willing to learn and grow in faith. (Matthew 18:3)
