In this short video, Max Lucado shares his thoughts about why we matter to God.
Pastor Lucado begins at the beginning. That is to say, Genesis, chapter one.
He tells how God made us in His image, giving us a responsibility for the earth and its creations.
I won’t repeat the entire verse but you can read the passage from Genesis here.
In His Image – We are Important to God
The video goes on to the great promise God made to His people.
Max Lucado brings to light the fact that God did not make any other thing or any other creature in His likeness – only us.
This is why, says Pastor Lucado, we are so important to God.
Other creations reflect the glory of God but were not made in the image of God.
So, no matter who you are, no matter your status on this earth, you are important to God.
We Fall Short – But God’s Promise Remains
Truthfully, we all “have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:23 NASB
This means, sin has entered and cloaked our image in many cases.
So, the image of God is hardly recognizable in some, but obvious in others.
Even through all our shortcomings, Christ was willing to go to the cross and die for us!
How important are we to God? Jesus answered the question with His blood!
Everyone must make a choice. We can shine and reflect the image of God or we can continue to judge our self-worth according to human standards.
In one of my favorite Bible passages, Joshua said:
“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15 NASB
Max Lucado clarified and simplified who we are in his short video above. He opened my eyes and led me to decide who and what is really important.
Yes, we were made in God’s image. But, so was every other person on this earth.
I believe Max Lucado’s message can change the way we see others.
No matter how we feel about them as humans, no matter what they did wrong, God cared enough to send Christ.
We all have a choice to make — Let’s make the best one!
