In Genesis 1:1-2:3, “God created the heavens and the earth.” On the other hand, some scientists believe the universe “just happened”. This post is about creation vs big bang and I believe you’ll find it interesting.
This is the beginning of a Bible study series from the Book of Genesis . These lessons tell how the book applies to our daily lives. We’ll focus on the story of creation vs big bang theory and how they relate to each other. Believe it or not, the big bang theory seems to support the Bible version when you read with an open mind.
This passage can also mean the beginning of God’s relationship with man (and woman ).
Creation vs Big Bang – The Story of Creation and What About The Big Bang Theory?
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.” – Genesis 1:1-5 NASB
The Story of Creation – Did the universe just “happen”?
Big Bang Theory: Ask any given scientist or historian and you’ll get hundreds of answers. Some say that there was an explosion, starting from nothing, which caused the universe to form.
I’m not sure how you feel about this but I find it very hard to believe that the universe, the sun, the moon, the earth, the oceans & lakes, the animals, the insects, the germs, and people all came about in perfect precision because of a blast from a single atom.
And, who created that single atom?
Big Bang and the Creation Story
I believe, in my humble understanding, that this hypothesis fully supports the creation theory and the story of God creating all things, including us.
If the universe was created from nothing, who or what started the process? If you resound that the universe was created, you need a Creator, don’t you? A perfect design needs a perfect designer, doesn’t it?
Creation vs. Intelligent Design
Genesis tells us that God created all things from nothing which ties into the big bang theory and the teachings of intelligent design.
It is just as easy for me to believe that an all-loving, all-knowing God put the universe and the earth together and set it in motion, as it is to trust the remarkable story of the big bang theory.
Faith Is Not Science
Firstly, don’t just think of God’s creation in terms of science. He is more than that. God created all of this and made us in His image. He wanted us as His companions and to have somebody to love. It’s that simple.
I don’t know if I could go through life believing that I am just a freak of nature which just “happened”.
And secondly, imagine if we were put on this earth only to live, work, die, and then be forgotten. What kind of existence would that be?
For Christians, faith bridges the gap between scientific explanations and the mysteries of existence. Faith allows us to embrace the unknown and find comfort in the belief that there is a higher power orchestrating the cosmos. Our quest for understanding the universe is ultimately a testament to our innate desire to connect with something greater than ourselves. And thankfully, that “something” is God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Why Are We Here?
According to the Bible, we were placed on this earth to work God’s plan for all of us. There is no greater reward than doing what God asks us to do. Through Christ, we can receive eternal life if we only believe. We can receive the great reward if we put our faith in Him and follow His will. God gave us everything we need, but all He asks of us is that we commit to faith in order to connect to Him.
Hard to Believe?
Is it any less likely that God created the earth, and us than to believe that God is just particles in space – – gas? God is not gas. That’s very insulting.
Love in Christ
