Truthfully, facing fear produces a negative feeling in most of us. And, if you read almost any section of the Bible, you’ll hear the words; “Do not be afraid.” But, in reality, fear is a real part of life — especially when we can’t even trust the air we breathe.
But thankfully, there’s an answer to that fear. As I stated in the first sentence above, God tells throughout the Scriptures to not be afraid. The God of the universe leads our team. So, what more could we ask?
With that said, let’s listen to what Pastor Rick Warren says about facing fear and faith in an uncertain future.
Video: Pastor Rick Warren Talks about Facing Fear & the Future in Uncertain Times
Pastor Warren quotes these verses from James to show how many of us make future plans without God.
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.”
Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.
Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”
But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.
So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.” ~ James 4:13-20
A Few Fearful Months Have Passed – The Message is Still the Same
Although this video by Rick Warren was released in August of 2020, the message of conquering fear remains true. I hope the message gives you hope and inspiration today as it did for me. And, defeating discouragement comes with hope.
We all face fear of some kind on a daily basis. But, God takes us through it and gives us peace — If we only ask. One promise says;
“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?” ~ Matthew 6:25-26 (NASB)
