When You Get Bumped Off Track: Finding Hope in Disruption – A Max Lucado Life Plan Video

This Max Lucado video explores how disruptions and detours in life’s plans can be opportunities for growth and renewal. On this occasion, he uses biblical teachings to comfort and offer perspective to those facing unexpected challenges.

Finding God in Disruptions

Lucado acknowledges that everyone encounters moments when their plans go awry. To clarify, he cites Proverbs 19:21, which says,

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

This verse reminds viewers that God’s plans are sovereign and often work through our setbacks.

Planning New Paths

The iconic pastor encourages viewers to embrace the new paths that emerge from life’s interruptions. To clarify, he draws on Romans 8:28, which states,

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” NASB

In fact, God works for our good even when our plans in life are disrupted.

Strength in Adversity

In discussing how to cope with these disruptions, Lucado highlights the importance of trust and resilience. He refers to James 1:2-3,

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

This passage teaches that trials are opportunities for spiritual growth and endurance.

Moving Forward with Hope

Lucado concludes by urging viewers to look forward with hope. And to be sure that God’s love will guide them through their challenges. He emphasizes that adversity strengthens our faith. It reinforces the idea found in Isaiah 41:10,

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”

Disruption Presents Opportunities in Life’s Plans

Max Lucado’s video offers a perspective of faith and hope. Ultimately, it reminds viewers that disruptions in life’s plans can lead to divine purpose and growth.

  1. Amen Pastor Max. And thank you for your beautiful words that we all need to listen to. Many Blessings to you and your family. 🙏

  2. Thank you Pastor Max for your words & prayers today, blessings to you. I struggle with the “trust”, wondering why things go so badly for some & smooth for others. Today I am battling another migraine day following much messed up sleep every night. Please pray 🙏 for me, thank you.

    1. I used to suffer with migraines for yrs! I will keep you in my prayers! I was healed a few yrs ago. God 🙏 bless you!

    2. Prayers for you! I have sleep issues too, and I get vestibular migraines (different than headache migraines, but horrible). I too struggle w/ trust. Let’s uplift each other. Bless you.

  3. That is a message I truly needed to hear today, Pastor Max. I have indeed been bumped off track, and I’m trying to rediscover my “why.” I’m still breathing, so I know I’m here for a reason, but I have definitely lost my focus. Thank you for your prayers and inspiration. I’ve actually pulled “Every Day Deserves a Chance” off my shelf for a re-read…

I’ve a friend who really needs to be lifted in prayer, more so than I. An American woman trapped in the Dominican Republic by age, disability, and desperate poverty. There are no resources there to assist her, and she is in deep despair. All she wants now is for God to take her Home. Please keep Billie in your prayers. I’m very grateful.

    1. @Helping Others That would be wonderful! I’ll find out the best way for you to do that and comment back here! Thank you!

  4. Thank you Pastor for your prayer today as I’m getting ready to go to another doc apt. BUT I know what God said to me years ago in my heart, “I hold your heartbeat not the doctors.”
    Thank You Lord Jesus

  5. Max, thank you for doing this. I follow your lead, and I have been changed by Jesus, through your books and your messages, but also by the way you live the gospel, in such a peaceful way. Almost like a child, just like Jesus recommended… Thanks for guiding and leading the way.

    1. He is, childlike and humble, not afraid to admit his flaws…which is a big part of why we love him so much, for sure!

Yes indeed……trust is the key. “Shake it off” as the POP song says. Thank you for these messages. I watch them daily. I own many of your books too! Always a blessing. All the best to you and yours.
